Thrift Store Find: McDonald's Lightning Lad
Put me down on the list of not getting any of the Legion of Super Heroes toys when they originally came with McDonald's Happy Meals a few years ago. The action figures were based on the cartoon show. I found a Lightning Lad figure still in the original box this morning at a local thrift store for twenty-five cents. A trading card still in the plastic came with it. The figure itself does not stand on its own but I do like the box and card.

Yesterday's Thrift Store Find: Adventures of Tintin Volume 5
I found The Adventures of Tintin Volume 5 yesterday at a local thrift store for a dollar. The hardback collects the following three adventures: "Land of Black Gold", "Destination Moon" and "Explorers on the Moon". I was surprised that it was it in good condition considering that this was a used book.

I remember watching the Tintin cartoon on tv back in the early Nineties but I never read any of the comic strips so this is indeed a treat. If you want your own copy, then you can get one using the following:

Batman: The Brave And The Bold Official Website
Check out the official Batman: The Brave and the Bold website from Cartoon Network. My favorite feature is the Inter-Action Figures, which is like a digital version of Colorforms. There is also a game based on the popular tv cartoon.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold: Rise of the Blue Beetle
"Rise of the Blue Beetle" was the first episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold that debuted on the Cartoon Network on Friday, November 14, 2008. The beginning had Batman and Green Arrow facing the Clock King. He then teams up with the new Blue Beetle to help save an alien race from Kanjar Ro. I liked the Silver Age feel of the art and story. I highly recommend Batman: The Brave and the Bold to all bat-fans.

Tonto And The Devil Spirits Cartoon
News has it that Johnny Depp will be playing Tonto in Disney version of The Lone Ranger. I grew up watching Clayton Moore as the masked man and I watched the animated version in the 1970s. I also remember listening to the radio show in the late 1970s while I did homework around four o'clock. I even have a cassette with an episode from the radio show.
The only Lone Ranger comic book that I have is the first three issues of the four part mini-series from Topps in 1994. There is a new comic series being published by Dynamite Entertainment but I have yet to pick up a copy.
I can kind of see Johnny Depp as Tonto but I would rather see someone like Jay Silverheels in the part. It is going to be interesting to see who Disney will cast as the Lone Ranger.
Meanwhile, enjoy this complete episode from the 1960s animated series:

Blog Spotlight: Jon's Random Acts of Geekness
Where do I start by saying how cool Jon's Random Acts of Geekness is? I have been wanting to write a piece about his blog since I first discovered it a few months ago. I have just been too busy drooling over the pictures of cool stuff that he posts.
Jon's Random Acts of Geekness has everything from cartoons and comics to monsters and superheroes. Many of his posts brings back fond memories of stuff that I used to have as a kid in the 1970s. I love his theme days that include Sunday Funnies, Monster Mondays and Give-A-Show Fridays.
If you are a big geek like me, then you need to check out Jon's Random Acts of Geekness. You never know what might pop up next on his blog.
